Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t say enough good things about Tekota Builds. They remodeled our kitchen, were very helpful offering suggestions and answering questions. They were on time and cleaned up daily. I’ve had a few questions since completing the job and they have been more than happy to promptly answer my questions. I also used them to paint and lay hardwood floors in bedrooms.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dustin and Daniel of Tekota were recommended to us by our home listing agent for painting our house exterior, and repairing and re-staining our older deck - prior to listing our home for aale. Their team did SUCH a wonderful job - on time, professional and thorough - that we invited Tekota to our newly purchased home to do some needed interior painting and improvements - baseboards, stairs, office painting. They again did a beautiful job, and at a good value. PLUS their approach is very customer focused and friendly. We highly recommend Tekota Builds!

Our Approach

A Custom Deck Designed Around Your Lifestyle

We don’t believe a deck should start with a one-size-fits-all template.

The right deck depends on your home, your property, and how you plan to use the space.

Do you want room for a large dining table?

A comfortable place for morning coffee?

Space for entertaining family and friends?

Multiple areas for cooking, dining, and relaxing?

A low-maintenance deck that doesn’t require the upkeep of traditional wood?

A particular railing style or material that complements your home?

We start by understanding what you want the space to do for you.

Then we design around those needs.

Size, layout, traffic flow, stairs, materials, railing, drainage, and other details can all be considered together so the finished deck feels like a natural extension of your home—not something that was simply attached to it.

The Tekota Builds Deck Longevity Plan

Our relationship with your deck shouldn’t end the day construction is finished.

Every Tekota deck comes with our Deck Longevity Plan—a clear roadmap designed to help you care for your deck and protect your investment over the long term.

Your Deck Longevity Plan provides guidance on:

Routine deck care
Maintenance considerations
Recommended inspection intervals
Suggested service intervals
Material-specific maintenance needs
Areas to keep an eye on as the deck ages
Steps that can help maintain the appearance and performance of your deck

Different deck materials have different maintenance requirements.

A natural wood deck, for example, has very different long-term care needs than a premium composite or polymer deck.

We want you to understand those differences before you choose your materials—and know what to do after your deck is built.

We don’t just build it and disappear.

Our goal is to give you a plan for keeping your deck strong, safe, and beautiful for the long haul.

Decks Built for Kansas City Summers and Winters

Decks in Johnson County have to deal with more than people, patio furniture, and weekend cookouts.

They live outside year-round.

Heat, strong sun, rain, moisture, freezing temperatures, snow, and seasonal temperature changes all put exterior structures and materials to the test.

That’s why Tekota Builds pays close attention to construction details such as:

Proper board spacing
Appropriate flashing
Water management
Deck drainage
Structural connections
Quality hardware
Material compatibility
Proper installation methods
Strong footings and framing

The goal is not simply to build a deck that looks impressive when the project is finished.

It’s to build one designed to continue performing through Kansas City summers, winters, and everything in between.
